> ReadStory is a free educational reading app for iOS, Android, and the web that turns photos of physical books into interactive digital storybooks with OCR text recognition and text-to-speech. Parents, teachers, early readers, and language learners can also generate original children’s stories with AI, translate them, and share books via QR code, link, or an 8-character project code.

## What ReadStory is

- A talking-picture-book app: photograph a physical children’s book (or worksheet), run OCR, tap a line to hear it
- An AI children’s story generator: start from a photo or a short idea, listen to a draft, then make a cover or full picture book
- A sharing tool for families and classrooms: QR code, link, or 8-character project code, with an optional 4–6 digit passcode
- Free for core OCR, text-to-speech, and sharing on iOS, Android, and the web

## What ReadStory is not

- A licensed ebook store or Epic alternative (ReadStory does not sell a publisher catalog)
- A Speechify replacement for websites and long documents
- A ChatGPT replacement for general chat
- Permission to copy or share copyrighted books without the rights to do so

## Product facts

- Pricing: Free to download and use. Core OCR, text-to-speech, and book sharing are free. Registered users receive 30 AI credits every 30 days (unused expire). Buy credit packs for illustrations and extra publish slots. Educational institutions can request higher quotas.
- OCR languages: Latin scripts, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, and Devanagari.
- Text-to-speech languages: 16 languages including English (US and British), Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Thai, and Vietnamese.
- Interface languages: English, Spanish, French, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
